ABOUT

​The Bella Vista Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the Library.

The mission of the Bella Vista Public Library Foundation is to support the Bella Vista Public Library by being a repository for gifts for the perpetual maintenance of the facilities and grounds and by providing financial support for educational programs, equipment, and facility expansion.

In January of 2014, the Foundation leased the library to the city to manage and maintain for the benefit of the people of Bella Vista.  Ownership of the library was retained by the Foundation, making the Foundation fully responsible for any expansion to the building or grounds.  In April of  2020, a 6.480 square foot expansion to the building was completed.  The Foundation is currently working to expand the parking lot.

OUR HISTORY

The Bella Vista Public Library Foundation (“Foundation”) was founded in 1996.
The Library at that time was technically a private library, serving the people of Bella Vista
through donations and the service of many volunteers; it was managed by a Board of
Trustees.
The Board of Trustees had undertaken a fundraising plan in order to build a
permanent structure to house the library and serve patrons. In 1996 the original structure
was completed and dedicated. The funds remaining from the building process were the
impetus to create a foundation to help assure the long-term viability of the library and its
future. The Foundation became the owner of the library building and grounds.
On January 1, 2014, the relatively newly formed city of Bella Vista (“City”) and the
Foundation reached an agreement whereby the City would take over the management and
support of the library for its day-to-day operations. The Board of Trustees was dissolved.
It had become apparent that the size of the library was no adequate to adequately
serve the growing and changing Bella Vista population. The Foundation, as owner of the
property, embarked on a project to expand the library. The building expansion was
completed in 2020.
Currently the Foundation is working to expand the parking lot to better serve
patrons.
The continuing mission of the Foundation is to support the Bella Vista Public
Library by being a repository for gifts for the perpetual maintenance of the facilities and
grounds and by providing financial support for educational programs, equipment, and
facility expansion.
​The Foundation meets every other month at 3:30 at the library. 
​Most meetings are the 4
th Tuesday of the month, with the exception of November.
